dark_x_huntress: (Carrie Underwood)

I saw Carrie Underwood and Josh Turner last night. It was fan-fucking-tastic guys! Worth every penny and then some. I'll have pictures soon hopefully. I went with my sister (Peanut) and though she originally went to see the devilishly attractive Josh Turner, she was soon won over by Miss Underwood's fantastic voice and stage prescence.

5:30 p.m. - Peanut and I get to Burger King and order our food.
5:45 p.m. - Peanut and I are going nuts trying to find a parking space that won't result in her car getting towed (remember we're newbies at this)
6:15 p.m. - After finding a spot to park, we walk to the North entrance. Then we walk to the East entrance, then Peanut announces she has to use the bathroom. I almost strangle her. We walk back to the Pizza Hut we originally passed.
6:25 p.m. - Doors are opened and we get inside without incident. We make our way straight to the merchandise booth and proceed to spend $90 on t-shirts. I blow another $20 on a program. IT'S SO WORTH IT.
7:00 p.m. - We find our seats and I realize that while they're not floor seats, they're still pretty damn close. It still hasn't sunk in that in a matter of minutes I'm going to see two of my favorite artists live.
7:30 p.m. - Lights go off and on the screen is a video of a young Josh Turner singing. Then the familiar opening chords to "Firecracker" begin and the audience goes crazy. Josh emerges from the left side of the stage with a guitar.

COMMENTS: It STILL hadn't sunk in that I was actually at my first concert and that I was going to see two of my favorite singers until Josh Turner appeared on stage. I liked Josh Turner's music going into the concert. I mean, who wouldn't get goosebumps with that deep voice??? He opened up with "Firecracker" (one of my personal favorites). Upon hearing him live and seeing how enthusiastic and charismatic he was about performing I turned into a complete fan. He interacted with the audience (joking that though he is a member of the Grand Ole Opry and Carrie has yet to be inducted, she's still sold more records than him), shook hands with them and even answered a girl who yelled "I love you Josh!" It was sweet simply because he didn't have to respond, nor did he have to interact with the audience. He was smiling the whole way through, and had us get up and sing with him. Of course, the loudest cheers came when he sang the last song, "Your Man." He definately made the women in the audience melt with that one. After that, he thanked us for the warm reception and promptly left the stage.

8:20 p.m.(ish) - It's Carrie's turn. We wait while the crew works fast to rearrange the stage. Suddenly a clock appears on the largest of the screens and it's set at 5 minutes.
8:25 p.m. - Carrie rises out of the middle of the stage and opens up with "Flat on the Floor" (there's a good way to get you out of your seat).

COMMENTS: Carrie was amazing. She seemed to feed off the energy the audience was emitting. Her vocals were strong and it was great to see her focus on singing rather than (lip-synching while) dancing around like a moron like some OTHER wannabe entertainers. Like Josh, Carrie took the time to reach out and shake hands with fans who reached up to her. I was impressed with how well she could walk in those killer high heel shoes while singing.

Carrie sang all her hits of course (Some Hearts, Jesus Take the Wheel, Don't Forget to Remember Me, Wasted, So Small, All American Girl, Last Name and Before He Cheats) as well as other songs off of both her albums (Twisted, I Told You So, The More Boys I Meet, Just a Dream, Get Out of This Town, Crazy Dreams, I Know You Won't and I Ain't in Checotah Anymore). Her closing number was Before He Cheats and that had such a loud and positive reaction from the audience. Carrie was wearing a jersey with our University's name on it so that helped too.
All in all, it was an experience I won't ever forget. I'm just so grateful I got this chance to see Carrie Underwood and Josh Turner in concert. My first concert turned out to be a truly remarkable experience and I look forward to doing it again.
