COMMENTS: So we come to the youngest brother and scoundrel, Alec Knight. Truly, what he did to Lizzie in Lady of Desire was terrible, and then his interference in Devil Takes a Bride was expected but not as bad as it could have been.

Alec, as the youngest of 5 brothers really doesn't have a purpose, hence his irresponsible and reckless behavior. Robert's the oldest, the Duke, Jack is well, he's something successful I'm sure, Damien is a war hero and Lucien is a spy. Where does that leave Alec? In the role of the scoundrel, the careless rake. No one has ever looked beyond his attitude and seen the man underneath, not even Lizzie, who fancied herself in love with him at one point.

Cut the poor guy some slack! He's only living up to the reputation that the people around him have helped create. Even his family is at fault for only seeing him as "the youngest Knight brother" instead of an individual with value.

So after the reality check that was Lizzie's wedding, Alec finds himself unable to continue his fast and free lifestyle. He now knows he's missing something very important in his life.

Meanwhile, Becky Ward is running for her life. She's a good character, smart, brave and good for Alec. The only problem is that she's not all that memorable compared to the other heroines in the previous books. She's really got nothing to make her stand out among the others. Bel is the former courtesan, Alice the goody two shoes, Miranda the once aspiring actress, Jacinda the only Knight daughter, and Lizzie the intellectual. Becky is the one with the raving madman for a cousin but that still doesn't describe her.

I was rather curious about how Alec was going to get rid of Lady Campion, who turned out to be more than just a jealous lover. In previous books I got the impression that she was just a young widow who was tired of playing by men's rules but upon reading this book I realized she had a queen complex and that made her dangerous.

All in all a good read, not a great one but this book is necessary to the entire series. I'm looking forward to writing my thoughts about Jack's book;)
